Fire Hydrant Flushing Program

The water mains are flushed every Spring as part of a preventative maintenance
program to ensure that the water quality is not being compromised and to make certain the fire hydrants are in good working order in case of an emergency. Flushing notices are published in The Berkshire Eagle and announced on W.S.B.S radio station. Flushing will be exercised during the month of April between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:00 pm.
During the hydrant flushing you may experience a discoloration of the water in your home or business. We recommend users run the tap for five or ten minutes, preferably from the tub spout, and it will clear up. The water is safe to drink
